History

Construction stage as at August 7, 1998

As of September 1997, all activities were focused on obtaining the Building Permission. That was issued in March 1998. Construction works commenced in April 1998, following the issue of Building Permission. Simultaneously with the progress of the final construction stage at the end of 1998, the installation of technology of Utility centre started.

The process of installation of manufacturing technology started in January 1999. It was carried through with significant involvement of the first TTCE employees. Formal production of plain weave 100% polyester taffeta began in July 1999 and full production capacity was reached in November 1999.

TTCE started diversification of its activities in 2002 by installation of Dobby water jet looms. This technology enabled us to respond to increasing demand of our customers for high value added and patterned fabrics. In 2004 TTCE decided to broaden its activities even further by starting up a new project of manufacturing technical fabrics which are used by our customer for making automobile airbags. It was a big change for our company in many ways.

  1. We entered completely new market of automotive industry characterized by high requirements for product quality, reliability of whole supply chain and cost competitiveness. Our achievements in a field of quality are presented here.
  2. We started to use different kind of basic material – TORAY made polyamide Nylon 66 yarn – for production of airbag fabric.
  3. During the year 2005 we expanded our production facility and machinery in order to meet requirements of current as well as future customer.

Airbag hall – construction stages

Next major step of TTCE in direction to diversify our activities is a project of Waterless plate cutting. In summer 2007 we have established small facility where we make final operations of precise cutting, dimensions measuring and packaging. We use “mother plates” imported from TORAY subsidiary in Japan. Arrangement of final operations in Czech Republic brought quick response and logistics convenience, which is appreciated by our customers. Expansion of our process capacity is currently under progress.

In order to make waterless technology more accessible to Europe, North America and the Middle East, Toray recently opened a new European plate production facility in Prostějov, Czech Republic. The factory, which opened in November 2013, produces all types of CTP waterless plates for the European, American and Middle Eastern markets, including the highly durable MX10 plate for newspaper and semi-commercial printing. Since its introduction in 2012, the MX10 plate has provided enhanced productivity to a number of newspaper printers using KBA Cortina presses.

Toray began construction of the new manufacturing facility in September 2012. At that time, the company was one of the first applicants for investment incentives pursuant to the amended Investment Incentives Act that had recently come into force. Now, after not quite two years, fifty people have found work here.

Production of nonwoven fabric AIRLITE

After the hard work of the technicians of Toray Textiles Central Europe s.r.o. and many supplier companies, in the spring of 2022 we made considerable progress towards starting the production of AIRLITE non-woven fabric in our branch. This material is already excellent at dampening noise in many cars manufactured throughout Europe and the world.

We have finished the construction of the production premises and at the beginning of March 2022 the assembly of the production line began. Technicians from supplier companies and specialists from our sister branch TAK from South Korea helped us during assembly. During this period, 3 of our colleagues returned home, who during a two-month training in Korea penetrated into all the secrets of operation and maintenance of a unique production line.

In total, we are investing about 180 million CZK in this project. It will mean further diversification of production activities for our branch. And this will lead to increased resistance to turbulent changes in the markets and the world in general.

Trial production on the line started in July 2022 and we switched to normal operation from October. The production line is in operation continuously, with the exception of planned shutdowns.
